MARCH 6 - 8, 2015
At the Portola Hotel & Spa and Monterey Conference Center
Welcome to the Monterey waterfront, where we’ve been presenting the best in early jazz, big band, swing, ragtime, blues, zydeco and gypsy jazz for over 30 years!
Quality and experience is what you will find among these gentlemen of jazz. Few musicians today can claim to have shared the stage with musicians who have become jazz legends, but these seasoned veterans have played with some of the best, and they’re here to carry on the legacy of distinguished jazz performance. These five world-class, globetrotting musicians are masters of their craft. They will entertain you with music from “The Great American Songbook,” featuring melodies of the Swing Era by great composers like Gershwin, Porter and Kern that were made wildly popular by luminaries such as Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Louis Armstrong and “Fats” Waller. The music of the 1930s and '40s ignited a generation of jazz fans and swing dancers, and remains popular today among legions of young swing dancers nationwide.
Allan Vaché and John Cocuzzi have worked together for 25 years, specializing in the Hot Jazz and Swing music played by jazz legend Benny Goodman. The versatile musicians of the Vaché/Cocuzzi All-Stars rekindle the fire and energy of the music made famous 'round the world by Benny and his star sidemen: Lionel Hampton, Count Basie, Nat “King” Cole, Red Norvo, Charlie Christian, Teddy Wilson and Gene Krupa. Listeners will be entranced, while others will get up and dance to their repertoire of classic favorites. This top-notch combo of artists from across the U.S. will prove that the music of the Swing Era is alive and well.
